Cards, Descalso agree on 1-year deal
St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – The St. Louis Cardinals avoided arbitration with infielder Daniel Descalso on Wednesday, agreeing to terms on a one-year contract.
“We are pleased to have reached an agreeable resolution with Daniel and we are looking forward to the start of Spring Training,” stated Cardinals senior VP/GM John Mozeliak.
The 27-year-old appeared in 123 games last season, posting five home runs, 42 RBI, 25 doubles and 43 runs scored while batting .238. A left-handed hitter, Descalso owns a lifetime .243 average with 10 home runs and 101 RBI in 425 games since debuting with the Cardinals in 2010.
