California Chrome to have Friday workout

Del Mar, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – California Chrome, winner of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, is scheduled to have a Friday morning workout at Los Alamitos Race Course.

The announcement was posted on the colt’s Facebook page.

“Chrome is scheduled to work on Friday morning. From what I’ve been told visitors are allowed to watch him from the kitchen.”

Trained by Art Sherman and owned by Steve Coburn and Perry Martin, California Chrome had an unregistered workout last Friday at Los Alamitos. The colt went two furlongs in 26 seconds and galloped out in 38 4/5 seconds.

The leading 3-year-old has not started since finishing in a dead heat for fourth in the Belmont Stakes on June 7. His connections are looking for one race before the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic on Nov. 1.
