Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – California Chrome, the 2014 Horse of the Year, will be leaving for his next start in the $10 million Dubai World Cup without any preliminary race.

Trainer Art Sherman confirmed the March 28 event will be his 4-year-old’s next race and has the schedule in place.

“He’s going right to Dubai. He’ll leave two weeks before the race,” Sherman said.

Owned by Steve Coburn and Perry Martin, California Chrome finished second to Shared Belief in last Saturday’s $500,000 San Antonio Stakes at Santa Anita. The Kentucky Derby and Preakness champ was the 7-5 second pick behind even- money favorite Shared Belief for the 1 1/8-mile stakes, but finished 1 1/2 lengths behind.

California Chrome has nine wins from 17 starts for $4,322,650.
