Calgary’s Cornish nabs two CFL weekly awards

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) – Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish was recognized as the top offensive and Canadian player for his efforts during the seventh week of the season.

Cornish scored a career-high four touchdowns in a 42-27 home triumph over Saskatchewan. He finished with 175 yards on 16 carries.

A pair of Toronto Argonauts were also honored.

Defensive back Alonzo Lawrence took home the defensive honors after forcing a fumble and recovering two more in a 38-13 rout at Montreal. Kick returner Chad Owens scored a 118-yard touchdown after a missed field goal and totaled 247 all-purpose yards to nab the special teams award.
