Buchholz put on DL
Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Boston Red Sox have placed right-handed starting pitcher Clay Buchholz on the 15-day disabled list due to a hyperextended left knee.
Buchholz, who is 2-4 with a 7.02 ERA in 10 starts this season, last pitched Monday at Atlanta and he was touched for eight walks and six runs over only three-plus innings.
Last season, Buchholz went 12-1 record with a 1.74 ERA in 16 regular season starts and had his first All-Star appearance.
To fill Buchholz’s spot on the roster, the Red Sox recalled righty Alex Wilson from Triple-A Pawtucket. He has one appearance for the parent club. That came May 25 at Tampa Bay. Wilson is 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA and five saves in 18 relief efforts for Pawtucket this season.
