Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – One day before their season and home opener against the Philadelphia Flyers, the Boston Bruins announced that forward David Krejci will begin the season on injured reserve.

Krejci suffered an undisclosed injury in the B’s preseason finale on Saturday and was held out of Tuesday’s morning practice session.

In an effort to free up salary-cap space, the Bruins also placed center Marc Savard on long-term injured reserve.

Savard has not played due to concussion issues since January of 2011, but still has three seasons remaining on a long-term contract extension which was costing the club more than $4 million against the cap.

Forwards Gregory Campbell and Anthony Camara were placed on the non-roster injured reserve list.

Boston also assigned forwards Jordan Caron and David Pastrnak to Providence of the American Hockey League while recalling forward Brian Ferlin and goaltender Malcolm Subban from Providence.
