Broken fibula ends season for Chargers’ Woodhead
San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy announced Monday that running back Danny Woodhead will miss the rest of the season with a broken fibula.
Woodhead was carted off the field in the first quarter of Sunday’s 22-10 win at Buffalo. His right leg twisted awkwardly underneath him when he was tackled at the end of a 1-yard carry less than 3 1/2 minutes into the game.
Woodhead signed a two-year contract extension prior to training camp after setting career highs in receptions (76), receiving yards (605) and receiving touchdowns (six) last season with the Chargers. He also added 429 yards and two scores on 106 carries.
