Brewers place Garza on DL
Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) – The Milwaukee Brewers placed pitcher Matt Garza on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain on Tuesday.
The move is retroactive to Aug. 4.
Garza started and threw six scoreless innings against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, but was pinch-hit for in the seventh. After the game, Brewers manager Ron Roenicke stated that the right-hander was injured near the end of the sixth inning.
Garza is 7-7 with a 3.58 earned run average in 23 starts this season.
In a corresponding move, the Brewers recalled pitcher Rob Wooten from Triple-A Nashville.
Wooten is 1-4 with 16 runs allowed and 29 strikeouts in 33 innings over 37 games with the Brewers this season.
