Braves place Walden on DL
Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Atlanta Braves placed pitcher Jordan Walden on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, retroactive to May 5, with a strained left hamstring.
Walden appeared in 14 games with the Braves prior to the injury, posting a 2.92 earned run average with one save and 19 strikeouts over 12 1/3 innings.
To replace Walden on the roster, Atlanta recalled pitcher Ian Thomas from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Thomas made his major league debut on March 31 and went 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA over 10 games before being optioned to Gwinnett on May 4 when right-hander Gavin Floyd was activated from the DL.
