New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Miami Heat center Chris Bosh and Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson have been named the Eastern and Western Conference Player of the Week, respectively, for the opening week of the season.

Bosh finished third in the East in scoring (25.7 ppg) and rebounding (11.3 rpg) while handing out 4.0 assists per game. The Heat are the lone unbeaten team in the conference, having taken down a pair of playoff teams from a season ago, Toronto and Washington, as well as Philadelphia.

Thompson, whose stellar shooting helped Team USA win Gold at the FIBA World Cup this summer, leads the NBA with 29.7 points per game. He netted a career- high 41 points in a dominant win over the Lakers, then hit the go-ahead jumper two nights later in a win over Portland.

Thompson is shooting 53.7 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from 3-point range.

Other nominees included Cleveland’s LeBron James, New York’s Carmelo Anthony, Sacramento’s DeMarcus Cousins, Washington’s John Wall and Blake Griffin of the LA Clippers.
