Blue Jackets’ Jenner out with broken hand
Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) – Columbus Blue Jackets forward Boone Jenner is expected to miss the first month of the upcoming 2014-15 NHL season due to a broken hand.
Jenner suffered the injury when he was struck by a puck during Sunday’s practice. The 21-year-old underwent surgery Wednesday to repair the fracture and has been given a five-week timetable for recovery.
Columbus opens its regular season schedule at Buffalo on Oct. 9.
Jenner is coming off a very solid rookie campaign with the Blue Jackets, with the 2011 second-round pick posting 16 goals and 13 assists over 72 games in 2013-14. He added three goals and a pair of assists in six games during Columbus’ loss to Pittsburgh in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.
