Even those that aren’t fans of blues music have no reason to miss Ottawa’s Bluesfest 2013 now! With a huge lineup that includes all genres of music from country to pop to rock and to yes, the blues, the promoters are celebrating the 20th anniversary of Bluesfest in Ottawa in grand style; and making sure that they have a little something for everyone.

So just who can you expect to see? Huge names such as B.B. King, Weezer, Belle & Sebastian, Tegan and Sara, The Tragically Hip, Matthew Good, Wu-Tang Clan, Zac Brown Band, Rush, and the Dixie Chicks are all expected to perform, along with many other talented artists. For two four-day stints these acts will gather in Ottawa’s Lebreton Flats Park to bring Canadian fans (and those traveling to Canada,) some of the favorite hits by their favorite artists, all in the same place.

Rightfully so, the promoters are extremely proud of the lineup they’ve put together. They think it won’t just be the best Bluesfest Ottawa has ever seen, but the best festival in North America this year!

“We consider this year’s lineup to be one of the best of any across North America,” said executive programming director Mark Monahan in a press release announcing the lineup. “It reaches out to a wide-ranging demographic with cutting edge performances as well as festival favorites.”

But while the festival does bring in visitors from all over North America every year, Monahan also told Metro News that he did like to cater to the city of Ottawa, which is “very much a classic rock town. I’ve got to do something that people in Ottawa are going to enjoy and want to come out to every year because it’s not a one off thing.”

Ottawa’s Bluesfest will be held July 4-8 before picking back up the next weekend, July 10-14.
