Belle Gallantey draws outside for Affectionately
Ozone Park, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Delaware Handicap winner Belle Gallantey will start from the far outside post versus eight rivals for Thursday’s $100,000 Affectionately Stakes to begin the New Year at Aqueduct.
Trained by Rudy Rodriguez, Belle Gallantey will be ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr. from post 9 for the 1 1/16-mile race for fillies and mares. Most recently the 6-year-old mare had been ridden by Irad’s brother Jose.
Jose Ortiz guided Belle Gallantey to victories in both the Del ‘Cap and Beldame Invitational as well as off-the-board finishes in the Ogden Phipps, Personal Ensign and Breeders’ Cup Distaff.
Owned by Michael Dubb and Bethlehem Stables, Belle Gallantey has earned $1,111,270 with nine wins, 12 seconds and seven thirds from 44 lifetime starts.
