Baek jumps to 13th in world rankings
Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Kyu Jung Baek won her first LPGA Tour title on Sunday and that victory helped her jump to No. 13 in the world rankings.
The tournament was Baek’s first LPGA Tour start. She had won three times earlier this year on the Korean LPGA.
Stacy Lewis did not play last week, but she narrowly kept her lead atop the rankings. Lewis is just 0.0062 average points ahead of No. 2 Inbee Park. Neither player is in the field this week for the Blue Bay LPGA in China.
Lydia Ko, Suzann Pettersen and Shanshan Feng remained Nos. 3, 4 and 5 in the world, while Michelle Wie jumped a pair to No. 6. So Yeon Ryu was seventh again and Karrie Webb dipped two notches to eighth.
Lexi Thompson held steady in ninth and was again followed by Hyo-Joo Kim, Anna Nordqvist and Cristie Kerr. Baek moved into the 13th position, while Sun-Ju Ahn inched up one to 14th.
Azahara Munoz slipped a spot to 15th, Na Yeon Choi tumbled three to 16th and Paula Creamer was down one to No. 17. Mi Rim Lee was 18th again this week.
Brittany Lincicome, who lost in a playoff to Baek, jumped five to 19th, while Angela Stanford remained No. 20 again this week,
Lizette Salas and Ha Na Jang tumbled out of the top 20. Salas fell four to 21st and Jang dropped three to 22nd.
