Auriemma expected to be named USA’s women’s head coach

Colorado Springs, CO (Sports Network) – USA Basketball has announced a Friday afternoon press conference at Gampel Pavilion in Connecticut, at which time it is expected that UConn’s Geno Auriemma will be named head coach of the women’s national team for 2013-16.

Although USA Basketball has not announced the hiring, the location of the press conference along with a media report, suggests Auriemma will be given the nod for a second time.

Auriemma led the U.S. women’s team to a gold medal at the 2012 London Games. He will become the first repeat coach for the U.S. women and will lead the program through the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
