Astros claim Downs from Detroit

Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – The Houston Astros have claimed pitcher Darin Downs off waivers from the Detroit Tigers.

Downs, 28, posted a 4.84 ERA in 29 relief appearances with the Tigers last season, striking out 37 in his 35 1/3 innings.

The lefty limited left-handed hitters to a .219 average.
