A’s put Punto on DL, recall Freiman
Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Oakland Athletics placed infielder Nick Punto on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a strained right hamstring.
Punto was hurt rounding third base in the fifth inning of Saturday’s win over Kansas City. He is hitting .207 with a .300 on-base percentage in 64 games while playing mostly second base and shortstop.
The A’s recalled first baseman Nate Freiman, who was hitting .284 with 15 home runs at Triple-A Sacramento. He joined the A’s for the second time this year.
