A’s Gray has successful thumb surgery

Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Oakland Athletics pitcher Sonny Gray underwent successful surgery on his left thumb Thursday.

Gray was drilled in the left hand by a Prince Fielder comebacker in Game 5 of the American League Division Series against the Detroit Tigers.

Gray posted a 5-3 record and 2.67 ERA in 12 games (10 starts) during the regular season.
