A’s acquire Abad from Nationals
Oakland, CA (Sports Network) – The Oakland Athletics acquired pitcher Fernando Abad from the Washington Nationals in exchange for outfielder John Wooten on Monday.
The left-hander was 0-3 for the Nationals last season with a 3.35 ERA in 39 relief appearances. Abad also appeared in 17 games for Triple-A Syracuse last season where he went 1-0 with a 1.06 ERA.
In four seasons, Abad split time with the Houston Astros and Washington compiling a record of 1-14 with an ERA of 4.56 in 127 games, six of which were starts.
Wooten batted .257 with 20 home runs and 69 RBI in 133 games with Single-A Beloit in Oakland’s system.
Oakland’s 40-man roster now stands at 39 players.
