Argonauts’ Ray among CFL’s top players
Toronto, ON (Sports Network) – Toronto Argonauts quarterback Ricky Ray was among those selected as the top players in the CFL for Week 8 of the 2013 season.
Ray was picked as the top offensive player after completing 30-of-35 passes for 413 yards and three touchdowns in a 36-33 victory over the Edmonton Eskimos. He is currently ranked second in the league in passing yards (1,768) and touchdown passes (14).
Saskatchewan Roughriders linebacker Tyron Brackenridge received the Defensive Player of the Week honor. He had one interception and two forced fumbles in a 24-21 win over the Montreal Alouettes.
BC Lions kick returner Tim Brown was the Special Teams Player of the Week. He returned a first-quarter kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown in a game against Calgary.
Montreal linebacker Marc-Olivier Brouillette was named the top Canadian for the week. Brouillette finished his team’s loss to Saskatchewan with three tackles, two sacks, and two forced fumbles.
