Angels’ Shoemaker is AL Pitcher, Rookie of the Month

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Los Angeles Angels right-hander Matt Shoemaker was named the American League Pitcher and Rookie of the Month on Wednesday.

Shoemaker went 6-1 over seven appearances for the AL West-leading Angels in August, including six starts. He had a 1.31 ERA and 38 strikeouts with just six walks in 41 1/3 innings.

He is just the fourth pitcher to win both awards in the same month.
