Angels send Freese to DL
Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim placed infielder David Freese on the 15-day disabled list Saturday among several roster moves.
Freese exited Friday night’s 5-2 loss to the Texas Rangers after being hit on the hand in the bottom of the third inning on a pitch by Colby Lewis. X-rays taken following the contest revealed a small, non-displaced fracture of his right middle finger.
The 31-year-old collected six hits in his last 13 at-bats to raise his average to .202.
In addition, outfielder J.B. Shuck was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake, the contract of infielder C.J. Cron was selected from Salt Lake, infielder Luis Jimenez was recalled from Salt Lake and pitcher Yoslan Herrera was sent outright to Triple-A.
