Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim activated infielder David Freese from the 15-day disabled list and inserted him into the starting lineup for Tuesday’s home game against the Houston Astros.

Freese had been sidelined since sustaining a non-displaced fracture of his right middle finger on May 2 after being hit by a pitch from Texas Rangers hurler Colby Lewis.

The 31-year-old Freese, who is slated to start at third base and bat sixth against the Astros, hit just .202 with two home runs and eight RBI over 24 games prior to the injury.

To make room on the roster, the Angels optioned infielder Luis Jimenez to Triple-A Salt Lake. Jimenez batted .160 with one double and two RBI over nine games with the Halos this season.
