An Update on the NBA

We’re just over the halfway point in the NBA season, and standings so far don’t show anything too shocking. Miami is once again at the top of the Eastern conference with New York and Indiana following. San Antonio also sits at the top of the Western conference once again with Oklahoma City and the L.A. Clippers trailing them. With nothing in the standings so far providing too many dynamic headlines, talks have turned to trades — those that have already occurred, and those that are still just rumors.

Memphis Grizzlies send Rudy Gay to Toronto Raptors

The Raptors sent point guard Jose Calderon to Detroit, and Ed Davis to the Grizzlies. Backup center for the Grizzlies, Hamed Haddadi, went to the Raptors, but the whole entire point was to get Rudy Gay to Toronto. And now they have.

L.A. Clippers want Kevin Garnett?

It was Sporting News that first reported that the Clippers had put in a bid to the Boston Celtics for Kevin Garnett. In exchange it was thought that the Clippers would give up small forward Caron Butler and backup point guard Eric Bledsoe. All of it was just rumor, and one that Garnett has shot down saying that he “bleeds green.” He also has a no-trade clause, so from the sounds of it, he’d need to have a serious change of heart for this to be true.

Shawn Marion and Vince Carter to the highest bidder?

After a strong start to the season, the Dallas Mavericks have been in a slump. And it’s been looking more likely it’s one they’re not going to get out of. Mark Cuban has recently went on record saying that “the bank of Cuban was open,” meaning that he could want to get rid of some big name players. But age will be a factor, and the same reason Cuban would like to get rid of them might be the same reason he’ll find himself unable to.
