Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – American Pharoah, last year’s champion 2- year-old male, will begin his 2015 season in the $600,000 Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park on Saturday, March 14.

Trained by Bob Baffert, American Pharoah had a six-furlong workout Saturday at Santa Anita and was timed in 1:12.40 with Martin Garcia riding.

“He went an easy three-quarters. I got him in like (one) 13,” Baffert commented.

Owned by Zayat Stables, American Pharoah has not started since winning the FrontRunner Stakes at Santa Anita on Sept. 27. He also won the Del Mar Futurity after finishing fifth in his debut race last August. American Pharoah was forced to miss the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile on Nov. 1 due to a suspensory- related injury.
