American Pharoah gets started with initial workout
Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Eclipse Award winner American Pharoah had his first workout of the year Monday morning at Santa Anita.
Owned by Zayat Stables and trained by Bob Baffert, the champion worked three furlongs with jockey Martin Garcia in 36.20 seconds.
“American Pharoah looked great breezing today,” Justin Zayat posted on the stable’s Twitter page.
American Pharoah was voted 2014’s champion 2-year-old male after winning the Del Mar Futurity and FrontRunner Stakes. He had finished fifth in his debut race last August.
