America East Conference Tournament Recaps
Burlington, VT (SportsNetwork.com) – Jameel Warney posted 24 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks to lead Stony Brook to a 79-77 win over Vermont in the America East semifinals.
Carson Puriefoy, who scored 17 points, split a pair of free throws with nine seconds left to give the Seawolves (23-10) a four-point lead. Trae Bell-Haynes had a layup at the other end, and Deshaun Thrower turned the ball over to give Vermont a chance to force overtime or win it in regulation, but Ethan O’Day’s jumper was off the mark at the horn.
Thrower netted 18 points for Stony Brook, which will meet Albany in Saturday’s title game.
Hector Harold paced Vermont (18-13) with 17 points, O’Day had 14 and Brandon Hatton scored 10 off the bench.
Final Score: Albany 60, New Hampshire 58
Albany, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Peter Hooley scored 21 points off the bench to guide Albany to a 60-58 win over New Hampshire and a trip to the America East finals.
Hooley shot 8-for-11 from the field and potted three triples for the regular- season champs. Evan Singletary gave 18 points and eight rebounds in the win.
Albany (23-8) will take on Stony Brook in the championship next Saturday in a rematch of last year’s final.
Jaleen Smith led UNH (19-12) with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists, and Matt Miller netted 14 points in defeat. The duo combined to hit seven of New Hampshire’s 10 3-pointers.
