Alouettes sign Troy Smith to two-year deal
Montreal, QC (Sports Network) – The Montreal Alouettes signed quarterback Troy Smith, the 2006 Heisman Trophy winner, to a two-year contract Wednesday.
Smith, 29, last played in the NFL in 2010 with the 49ers. He started six games that season and completed 50.3 percent of his passes for 1,176 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions.
Over four NFL seasons with the Ravens (2007-09) and 49ers, Smith completed 51.7 percent of his passes for 1,734 yards, eight touchdowns and five interceptions. He was selected by Baltimore in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft.
Smith also played for the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL in 2011.
