Alice in Wonderland on Broadway!
The story of “Alice in Wonderland” is coming back to Broadway and similarly to the show, Wonderland, that made it to the Great White Way in 2011, this one shows the modern side to the classic fairy tale.
Modern, indeed. Those who saw “Alice in Wonderland” on the big screen in 2010 when it was directed by Tim Burton, will also be delighted with the familiar visual effects and dramatic costumes, as Burton is also working on the project. He isn’t sitting in the director’s chair this time, but he will be working on the design and visualization aspects of the show, helping work his concept from screen to stage. Those that Burton will be working alongside are Rob Ashford, who will direct and choreograph the musical; Linda Woolverton, who wrote the book and the screenplay; and Richard D. Zanuck, who will be one of the producers for the show.
Just when Alice will land on Broadway isn’t yet known, but it has been said that it might hold its premiere in London, giving it a much larger, global audience. Disney Theatrical Productions is behind the show, along with the slew of other musicals it has set to run on the stage including Dumbo and Father of the Bride.
The story of the girl that falls down the rabbit hole has always been a favorite whether it’s showing on the big screen or the Broadway stage; and this latest version already has audiences talking!
