Santa Clara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The San Francisco 49ers removed guard Alex Boone from the exempt list in time for the recent holdout to play in Sunday’s season opener at Dallas.

The move likely means that Boone, who sat out all of training camp in a contract dispute, will start at right guard for the Niners’ Week 1 tilt against the Cowboys.

Boone reported to the 49ers last week after the team agreed to increase his pay over the remaining two years on his contract.

The fifth-year pro has started all 32 games at right guard for San Francisco over the past two seasons and emerged as a key part of an offensive line that has helped the 49ers to back-to-back NFC Championship games as well as a Super Bowl appearance.

To make room for Boone on the 53-man roster, San Francisco released veteran special teamer Kassim Osgood.
