Auburn Hills, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Greg Monroe scored four of his game- high 24 points in overtime and the Detroit Pistons opened their preseason schedule with a 111-109 win over the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 18 points in the win, Jonas Jerebko scored 14 and Brandon Jennings had 10 assists and 10 points, including a 60-foot shot he knocked down at the halftime buzzer.
Jimmy Butler and Aaron Brooks led Chicago with 18 points apiece and Taj Gibson scored 17. Returning from injury, Derrick Rose scored six after netting 11 in the Bulls' opener on Monday, an 85-81 loss to Washington.
After Detroit's Kyle Singler missed one of his two free throws with 9.6 seconds left, Tony Snell hit two at the other end for Chicago to tie the score. Caldwell-Pope missed an off-balance 3 at the buzzer, sending the game to overtime.
