Jon Singleton had a pair of hits for the Astros, who scratched right-hander and former No. 1 overall pick Mark Appel from a scheduled relief appearance on Monday because of mild tightness in his right forearm.

Collin McHugh started for the Astros and allowed three hits in three innings. He struck out three and walked one.

Toronto starting pitcher Marcus Stroman tossed 2 2/3 innings of two-hit ball.

Jose Reyes doubled for the Blue Jays.
