(SportsNetwork.com) - Left-hander Robbie Ross Jr. makes his first start against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon when the Texas Rangers host them in the finale of a three-game series at Globe Life Park.

Ross has thrown 6 2/3 scoreless innings in six career relief outings against Chicago.

He's been solid in a starting role for the Rangers in 2014, including 15 straight innings across three starts in which he's not allowed an earned run. In his last start on Tuesday he tossed 7 2/3 scoreless innings in a 5-0 defeat of Seattle.

"I was trying to limit my pitch count and work as quick as I could," Ross said. "Go right at them and attack. It's the same process this next time -- hopefully I can try to do the same thing."

The Rangers have scored just two runs with Ross on the mound in those three starts. Texas, though, is hitting at a .351 clip during a five-game win streak after batting just .207 in the previous five games.

Ross will opposed by Erik Johnson, a rookie who'll try to end the team's four- game skid.

Johnson struck out nine batters and allowed a single run in 6 2/3 innings in the White Sox's 2-1 defeat of Boston on Tuesday.

He'd given up four runs in 5 2/3 innings in a 10-4 loss at Colorado six days ago.

On Saturday, Prince Fielder and Kevin Kouzmanoff both hit solo homers to lead Texas to a 6-3 win. Alex Rios had three hits and an RBI and Josh Wilson drove in a pair for the Rangers, who have won five in a row.

Colby Lewis (1-1) allowed one run on six hits and struck out four over 5 1/3 innings. Joakim Soria worked a perfect ninth to earn his third save of the season.

Dayan Viciedo had two hits and two RBI for the White Sox.

Jose Quintana (1-1) allowed five runs on nine hits over five innings to absorb the loss.
