Recap: Oakland vs. Seattle

Mesa, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Kent Matthes' two-out RBI single capped a three-run ninth inning rally that lifted the Oakland Athletics to a 4-3 Cactus League win over the Seattle Mariners.

The A's tied the game at 3-3 on consecutive one-out doubles from Luke Carlin, Alden Carrithers and Bryan Anderson off Mark Lowe. Two batters later, Matthes greeted Paul Fry with a single to right to knock in the deciding run.

Comedian Will Ferrell, as part of a partnership with Major League Baseball to promote cancer research, played one inning in the field for both teams. He started at shortstop for the Athletics and later took over at second base for the Mariners in the second inning.

Ferrell did not receive an at-bat or a chance in the field during the game.

Oakland starter Scott Kazmir struck out four over the first 2 2/3 innings, but was touched for two runs -- one earned -- on three hits while walking two.

Austin Jackson and Stefen Romero each recorded a pair of hits for Seattle, which finished with seven for the game.
