New York Yankees VS. Boston Red Sox

Recap: NY Yankees vs. Boston

Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Alex Rodriguez hit his first home run of the spring, though his New York Yankees were handed a 10-4 loss by the Boston Red Sox in a Grapefruit League matchup.

Rodriguez belted a 3-1 pitch from Brandon Workman over the left-center field wall to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning, part of a 1-for-2 day at the plate for the controversial three-time American League MVP.

In five games this spring, Rodriguez is hitting .455 (5-for-11) with a pair of walks. The 39-year-old superstar, suspended the entire 2014 season for his role in the Biogenesis PED scandal, also saw action at third base for the second time since his reinstatement.

The Red Sox pounded out 18 hits in the rout, with Travis Shaw going 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI and Garin Cecchini also recording two hits and knocking in three runs. Luke Montz added a two-run homer and Mookie Betts finished 3-for-4.

Yankees starter Chris Capuano faced just two batters before exiting the game when he injured his quad covering first base.

Jose Pirela had two of New York's six hits and scored a run.
