Mesa, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Will Middlebrooks belted a three-run homer in a four-run second inning and the San Diego Padres beat the Chicago Cubs 6-3 on Monday in spring training.

Alexi Amarista added an RBI single in the rally and Yonder Alonso homered later in the game for the Padres, who got three shutout innings from starter Andrew Cashner.

Mike Olt and Miguel Montero hit solo homers for the Cubs and starter Edwin Jackson gave up four unearned runs and four hits in two innings.
