Baton Rouge, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - A solid defensive effort propelled the 10th-ranked LSU Tigers to a 17-6 home victory over the 17th-ranked Florida Gators.

The Tigers (6-1, 3-1 SEC) came into Saturday's game allowing foes to put up 24.7 ppg, while yielding 367.0 yards of total offense. The LSU defense responded on Saturday by limiting the Gators to just six points and 239 yards of total offense.

Zach Mettenberger completed 9-of-17 passes for 152 yards for the Tigers, who have won two in a row since a loss at Georgia on Sept. 28. Jeremy Hill carried the ball 19 times for 121 yards.

Tyler Murphy connected on 15-of-27 passes for 116 yards for Florida (4-2, 3-1), which had a three-game winning streak snapped.
