Wyoming Cowboys VS. Montana St. Bobcats

Recap: Wyoming vs. Montana State

Laramie, WY (SportsNetwork.com) - Larry Nance Jr. scored a game-high 21 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the Wyoming Cowboys held off the Montana State Bobcats, 70-61, in non-conference play at Arena Auditorium.

Nance, who made all seven of his free-throw attempts, also registered seven rebounds and three assists for the Cowboys (9-2) as they won for the second time in three tries. Derek Cooke Jr. pitched in with 15 points and five boards, followed by Riley Grabau and Josh Adams with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

The Bobcats (3-6), who saw their two-game win streak come to an end, were led by Marcus Colbert with 18 points and five assists, while Terrell Brown produced 14 points and grabbed five boards in the setback.

Both teams were on fire in the first half as MSU connected on 57.7 percent from the floor and the Cowboys an even better 63.6 percent, as they went into the intermission knotted up at 37-37.

The Bobcats converted 5-of-8 shots behind the 3-point line through the first 20 minutes, but the second half was a completely different story for the visitors as they made good on only one of their 10 chances on the perimeter, allowing Wyoming to come away with the victory. It also didn't help that MSU was limited to a single field goal in the final six minutes of the contest after the teams were tied 53-53.

In a game that featured nine ties and 10 lead changes, the Cowboys made only 2-of-7 behind the 3-point line on the afternoon, but made up for it by outscoring Montana State by a 26-9 margin at the free-throw line.
