WYOMING COWBOYS

Wyoming Cowboys

Wyoming Cowboys VS. Boise St. Broncos

Boise State (10-5) at Wyoming (14-2)

GAME NOTES: The highest scoring offense in the Mountain West Conference visits one of the most stingy defenses in the country as the Boise State Broncos head to Arena-Auditorium to face off against the Wyoming Cowboys.

Wyoming overcame 17 turnovers and pulled out a 60-54 road win over Colorado State on Wednesday. The Cowboys did so by forcing 16 turnovers and making 45 percent of their shots. Three players scored in double figures, with Larry Nance Jr. totaling 15 points and Charles Hankerson Jr. and Josh Adams each netting 13.

Jason McManamen drained a critical 3-pointer in the waning seconds to secure the victory, which was the sixth straight for the Cowboys and moved them to 3-0 in the Mountain West for first time since 2002-03

Nance has become one of the top interior players in the MWC as he leads the Cowboys in both scoring (15.6 ppg) and rebounding (6.5 rpg), while also notching 17 blocked shots and 20 steals. Adams brings another 10.8 ppg to the table and is tops with 63 assists. The Cowboys generally keep the score low (64.1 ppg), yet they show potential for bigger and better things with 50.5 percent accuracy from the field, compared to just 39.8 percent for the competition.

Of course, Wyoming hangs its hat on its defense, which allows opponents to score a minuscule 52.1 ppg and thus leading to a league-best plus-12 scoring margin.

The Broncos will have their work cut out for them, especially considering their effort the last time out resulted in a 62-61 home loss to Utah State. They were ahead by two on the game's final possession before being done in by David Collette's buzzer-beating 3-pointer.

Derrick Marks did all he could, pouring in a game-high 31 points behind a 5- of-6 performance from beyond the arc to help erase a 12-point deficit in the second half. Still, the Broncos dropped their third straight and fell to 0-2 in conference play.

Despite the skid, the Broncos are still atop the scoring charts with 71.8 ppg. Marks paces the program with 17.2 ppg, shooting an impressive 57.7 percent behind the 3-point line. Mikey Thompson, who was limited to two points on 0- for-5 shooting against Utah State, saw his average dip to 9.6 ppg, while James Webb II is putting up a respectable 8.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

Wyoming leads the all-time series 11-8, but Boise State has won its last two trips to Laramie. The Cowboys are on a roll, so they should end up beating the Broncos on their home floor.

Predicted Outcome

Wyoming 65, Boise State 59
