Wright St. Raiders VS. George Mason Patriots

George Mason (4-6) at Wright State (8-4)

GAME NOTES: The Wright State Raiders go in search of their fifth straight win on Tuesday, as they entertain the George Mason Patriots at the Nutter Center.

George Mason is riding high at the moment as well, the team winning each of its last two games after stumbling out of the gate with a 2-6 record. The Patriots' most recent triumph occurred at home over the weekend in an 86-81 final versus Iona. Prior to that, the team had whipped visiting Catawba, 99-69. This bout marks only the second true road game of the season for GMU, which will visit Oklahoma next before returning home for its Atlantic 10 Conference opener against La Salle on Jan. 3.

Wright State was an even 4-4 after the first three weeks of the campaign, but has since won four straight, two of which have occurred on the road. The Raiders, who are a perfect 4-0 at home, recently claimed a 69-56 decision at Western Carolina last Thursday, and they too will play just one more non- conference bout (at Oho State on Dec. 27) before embarking on Horizon League action versus visiting Detroit on Jan. 2.

George Mason won the only other meeting between these two teams, taking a 98-95 decision in double-overtime during the Drake Classic in December of 1988.

Marquise Moore scored 23 points and Shevon Thompson produced a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds to help propel George Mason to its recent win over Iona. Isaiah Jackson tacked on 14 points and Patrick Holloway 10 more for the Patriots, who drained 7-of-14 3-point attempts while logging a 27-15 edge in points from the foul line. The Pats committed only nine turnovers, while the Gaels were guilty of 17. A 51.5 percent shooting effort in the opening half allowed the home team to claim a lead it wouldn't relinquish, despite not shooting as well after the break (.333).

Holloway (13.4 ppg), Moore (11.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg) and Thompson (11.6 ppg, 11.0 rpg) are all producing for the Patriots this season, Thompson in particular as he is one of a handful of players nationally averaging a double-double. The team as a whole isn't shooting the ball all that efficiently (.427 overall, .311 3-point), and is netting 68.9 ppg as a result. Its defensive effort is yielding 70.8 ppg, despite logging a favorable figure on the glass (+1.3).

JT Yoho poured in 19 points, Reggie Arceneaux added 15 and Joe Thomasson 14, all of which Wright State needed to push its way past Western Carolina last week. The Raiders converted half of their 16 3-point tries, compared to only 3-of-15 for the Leathernecks. Overall, WCU was held to 37.9 percent on its total shots, and Wright State's bench outscored its host's, 20-4.

Yoho is averaging 17.9 ppg, due in large part to his efforts out on the perimeter (.370) and stellar showing at the free-throw line (.821). he also leads the team's rebounding effort with 7.7 rpg. Thomasson (12.0 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 3.4 apg) and Chrishawn Hopkins (10.4 ppg) round out the double-digit scorers for a team that is putting up 70.2 ppg while allowing 66.0 ppg. The Raiders are being outworked on the boards (-2.6), but they force 14 turnovers per outing while committing 11.8 miscues themselves.

The Raiders have the obvious advantage of playing this game at home, so expect them to ride Yoho to another in an ever-growing string of victories.

Predicted Outcome

Wright State 69, George Mason 60
