Recap: Wright State vs. FIU

Spartanburg, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Dennis Mavin notched 24 points and nine rebounds to aid the FIU Panthers in a 61-59 overtime victory against the Wright State Raiders during the USC Upstate Classic at the Hodge Center.

Adrian Diaz contributed 19 points and eight boards for FIU (4-2).

JT Yoho tallied 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists for Wright State (3-3). Chrishawn Hopkins netted 13 points and Joe Thomasson chipped in 11.

FIU took control in the first half and led, 31-22, at the break. The Panthers made 52.4 percent of their field goal tries in the opening period, while limiting Wright State to 32.1 percent shooting.

In the second half, FIU let the Raiders come back by recording only seven field goals. The Raiders actually led, 52-50, after Reggie Arceneaux split a pair of free throws with 17 seconds remaining. However, Mavin extended the game with a layup on the other end.

A 5-0 burst from FIU in the final minutes of the extra session allowed it to gain enough of an advantage to pull out the victory.

FIU outscored Wright State at the free-throw line, 21-11.
