Recap: Wofford vs. South Dakota

Fairfield, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Karl Cochran scored a game-high 31 points as the Wofford Terriers slipped by the South Dakota Coyotes, 72-68, as part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard.

Cochran shot an impressive 8-of-14 behind the 3-point line, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out five assists for the Terriers (3-1) as they won their third game in a row since opening 2014-15 with a 74-59 setback at Stanford. Also scoring in double figures for Wofford was Justin Gordon with 12 points to go along with his eight boards.

The Coyotes (1-3) had only one player in double figures as Adam Thoseby tallied 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the floor.

Cochran led the attack for the Terriers in the first half as he knocked down 6-of-9 shots on the perimeter and finished with 20 points in 15 minutes of action, leading his team to a 40-27 advantage at the break.

In the second half Thoseby tallied 15 points for South Dakota, but that still was not enough to bring the Coyotes all the way back and challenge for the win.

Wofford made good on a mere 5-of-11 at the free-throw line, but made up for it with an impressive 11-of-20 beyond the arc.
