Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Thornton had a game-high 17 points and Omar Prewitt scored 16, as the top-seeded William & Mary Tribe notched a 72-59 win over No. 8 seed Elon in quarterfinal round action of the CAA Championship at Royal Farms Arena.

Daniel Dixon added 12 points for the Tribe (19-11), who advance to the semifinal round on Sunday to face Hofstra.

Elijah Bryant had 15 points to pace the Phoenix (15-18), who knocked off ninth-seeded Towson in overtime on Friday. Austin Hamilton and Tanner Samson finished with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Elon shot just 9-of-26 from the floor (.346) in the first half while the Tribe shot an even 50 percent and made 6-of-15 3-pointers to build a 36-26 halftime lead.

William & Mary tacked on five more threes in the second stanza and stretched its lead to as many as 18 with 11 minutes remaining. The Phoenix were unable to cut the margin to single digits the rest of the way.

The Tribe shot a healthy 52.3 percent for the game and had 17 assists on 23 field goals as a team.
