Wake Forest Demon Deacons VS. Virginia Tech Hokies

Recap: Wake Forest vs. Virginia Tech

Greensboro, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Jalen Hudson capped the best performance of his young career with a running bank shot that lifted Virginia Tech to an 81-80 win over Wake Forest in the first round of the ACC Tournament.

Trailing by one following Konstantinos Mitoglou's triple with 25 seconds to play, the Hokies called a pair of timeouts and went to the freshman Hudson, who darted through the defense and was pure with a runner in traffic.

Wake then had three looks at the basket in the final seconds, but Mitoglou's baseline jumper and putback attempts by Devin Thomas and Codi Miller-McIntyre all rimmed out just before the final buzzer.

Hudson finished with a career-high 32 points, Ahmad Hill added 12 points for Virginia Tech (11-21), which had lost seven straight games to finish the regular season.

Miller-McIntyre finished with 23 points and 11 assists and Thomas scored 22 points for the Demon Deacons (13-19).

Virginia Tech trailed during the early portion of the game until Hudson's personal 8-0 run made it 23-19. The Hokies then closed the first half on a 13-2 run and led 41-31 at halftime.

Their lead reached 11 before Wake Forest came storming back. Miller-McIntyre scored 10 points during a 17-2 burst that put the Demon Deacons back in front, and it was neck-and-neck until the end.

The Hokies will meet sixth-seeded Miami on Wednesday.
