El Paso, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Raheem Appleby scored 22 points as the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs defeated the Texas-El Paso Miners, 58-45, in a Conference USA battle at Don Haskins Center.

Erik McCree added 13 points and six rebounds for the Bulldogs (11-4, 2-0 C- USA). Alex Hamilton chipped in with 11 points in the team's third win in a row.

As for the Miners (10-5, 2-1), Vince Hunter scored 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds and Earvin Morris chipped in with nine points.

In the first half, the Miners shot a combined 50 percent from floor and the Bulldogs connected on just 38.9 percent from the field, yet the game was tied 33-33 at the break.

In the second half, the Miners shot just 21.7 percent from the field and only connected on 1-of-6 from three point range for a total of 12 second-half points, while the Bulldogs shot 45.5 percent from the field to pull away for the win.

Louisiana Tech outscored UTEP, 30-14, from inside the paint. The Bulldogs also forced 13 Miners turnovers in the win.
