Logan, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - David Collette scored a game-high 22 points as the Utah State Aggies battled back to capture a 72-61 win over the Weber State Wildcats in the season opener for both squads at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Collette converted all but four of his 15 field goal attempts, cleared six rebounds and logged five steals for the Aggies (1-0) as they fought their way back from an 18-point halftime deficit. Jalen Moore accounted for 20 points and eight rebounds and Julion Pearre 10 points off the bench, while Darius Perkins accounted for nine of the unit's 15 assists on the night.

The Wildcats (0-1) were led by Jeremy Senglin who tallied 14 points, but he ended up fouling out and being charged with eight turnovers, against just a single assist. Richaud Gittens contributed 13 points and seven rebounds, while Joel Bolomboy dropped in 12 points, pulled down nine boards and suffered six miscues.

Weber State was on fire in the first half, shooting an impressive 57.7 percent from the floor, including 5-of-10 behind the 3-point line, allowing the visitors to move out to a 47-29 advantage at the break. In addition to converting only 2-of-9 on the perimeter, USU was a mere 5-of-12 at the free- throw line through the first 20 minutes of action.

In the second half the roles reversed as the Aggies hit on 55.2 percent from the floor and Weber State a meager 4-of-23, including 1-of-8 on the perimeter.

The Wildcats were charged with 20 turnovers on the night, leading to 16 points for the Aggies.
