USC Trojans VS. Colorado Buffaloes

Recap: USC vs. Colorado

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Askia Booker scored a career-high 43 points as the Colorado Buffaloes escaped with a 98-94 win in triple-overtime against the USC Trojans in Pac-12 Conference action at the Galen Center.

Booker, who scored nearly half his points in the overtime sessions, was held scoreless for the first 14 minutes of the contest before lighting up the scoreboard for the Buffaloes (11-9, 4-4 Pac-12) as they finally logged their first road win of the campaign.

Xavier Johnson scored 12 points for the Buffs before fouling out, while Tory Miller logged a double-double off the bench with 11 points and 13 boards.

Katin Reinhardt scored a career-high 35 points as he converted 9-of-18 shots behind the 3-point line in 47 minutes of work for the Trojans (9-11, 1-7). Nikola Jovanovic accounted for 30 points and nine rebounds as he made good on 11-of-17 shots from the floor, while Jordan McLaughlin posted 11 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, but also put the Trojans in a bind by shooting only 5-of-12 at the free-throw line.

USC led by as many as 10 points in the first half, shooting 44.1 percent from the field, but the team had to settle on a 38-37 edge at the break.

With just over 40 seconds remaining in regulation, Jovanovic converted a layup to knot the score at 66-66.

Both teams had an opportunity to win the game in the final seconds, but neither side was able to get the ball through the hoop, sending the meeting into overtime.

Points were at a premium in the first extra session and with the shot clock turned off the Trojans again had a chance to grab the win, but a short jumper in the lane by McLaughlin missed the mark, sending the meeting to a second overtime period tied at 73-73.

Reinhardt started the next overtime period with his eighth 3-pointer of the night and added another triple minutes later, but sloppy play by USC allowed Colorado to again tie up the meeting at 81-81 with less than two minutes on the clock.

With 18.7 seconds remaining, Jovanovic pulled down a missed shot and delivered a layup, but he missed a subsequent free throw that could have given the Trojans a three-point edge.

The Buffs then put the ball in the hands of Booker who hit a floater over the outstretched arms of defenders in the lane, making the score 83-83 with 8.0 seconds to play.

Reinhardt let fly with yet another deep field goal try, but his shot missed the mark, resulting in a third OT period.

At the 3:41 mark of the third overtime, Reinhardt picked up his fifth personal foul, sending Miller to the free-throw line where he knocked down both of his opportunities to lock up the score at 87-87.

With 13.4 seconds to go, Booker calmly converted a couple of free throws to move Colorado out to a three-point advantage. USC had one more chance to extend the game even further, but instead of going for the tie McLaughlin drove to the rim and missed a layup and at the other end Miller made 1-of-2 at the line in order to hold on for the close call.
