USC Trojans VS. California Golden Bears

Recap: USC vs. California

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Nikola Jovanovic scored 20 points and pulled down nine rebounds to help lead the USC Trojans to a 71-57 win over the California Golden Bears in Pac-12 Conference play at the Galen Center.

Also scoring in double figures for the Trojans (9-6, 1-2 Pac-12), as they snapped a two-game slide, were Julian Jacobs and Katin Reinhardt with 17 and 16 points, respectively.

The Golden Bears (11-5, 1-2) were paced by Tyrone Wallace who tallied 21 points on 9-of-21 shooting from the floor, while Jordan Mathews tacked on 17 points in the losing cause. Since opening the season with 10 wins in 11 games, Cal has dropped two straight and four of the last five.

The visitors were limited to only 10 field goals in the first half and even as USC missed on all seven chances behind the 3-point line through the first 20 minutes of action, it was the home team that owned a 38-29 advantage at the break.

In the second half the Bears continued to struggle from the field at only 36.1 percent and it didn't help matters that the squad came up empty on all nine opportunities beyond the arc in the frame, en route to the double-digit loss.

USC shot just 2-of-15 behind the 3-point line on the night, but made up for it with 85.0 percent accuracy at the free-throw line and by turning the ball over just eight times.

Despite the loss, California still leads the all-time series by a count of 133-122.
