Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork.com) - Rashad Vaughn scored a game-high 26 points as the UNLV Runnin' Rebels held on for a 60-59 win against the Morehead State Eagles as part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Also having a strong game for the Runnin' Rebels (1-0) was Christian Wood who registered a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Making an impression in the paint was Goodluck Okonoboh who rejected seven shots.

The Eagles (0-1) were paced by Angelo Warner who dropped in 21 points, followed by Brent Arrington with 12 and seven boards, but the latter shot just 4-of-13 from the floor and missed all five of his 3-point attempts.

UNLV, which led by as many as six points midway through the first half, shot only 37.5 percent from the field, including a dismal 1-of-10 beyond the arc in the frame, en route to a 36-31 deficit at the break. Morehead State shot only 38.9 percent from the floor and 2-of-9 on the perimeter through the first 20 minutes of action.

After converting 14 field goals in the first half, the Eagles made just half as many following the intermission and saw an early double-digit lead disappear as the hosts held on for the victory.

UNLV survived despite shooting only 4-of-18 on the outside and turning the ball over 13 times, compared to only six miscues for the visitors.
