Irvine, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - John Ryan scored 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds as the UC Irvine Anteaters defeated the Sacramento State Hornets, 74-62, in a non-conference clash at the Bren Events Center.

Also scoring in double figures for the Anteaters (4-3) were Alex Young and Ioannis Dimakopoulos with 13 and 11 points, respectively, as the team won for the second time in three outings.

The Hornets (4-3) were paced by Dylan Garrity who tallied a game-high 18 points as he converted 4-of-6 shots behind the 3-point line, while Mikh McKinney tacked on 17 points in the losing cause.

Sacramento led for a short period early in the first half due to the fact that the hosts knocked down 50.0 percent of their field goals in the period moved out to a 34-27 advantage at the break. UCI was able to establish a lead despite shooting only 2-of-13 behind the 3-point line.

In the second half the Anteaters again had trouble out on the perimeter (2- of-8), but made good on 51.5 percent from the floor overall in order to pull away for the double-digit win.

Irvine forced 15 turnovers, creating 19 points for the host, and also outscored the Hornets in the paint by a 46-18 margin.
